Abstract

This survey-correlational research was conducted to determine the role of physical education in fostering lifelong healthy habits. The participants of this study were the 150 selected senior high school students of Tapaz National High School who are officially enrolled during the school year 2024-2025. Researcher-made questionnaire in role of physical education which were composed of 25 number of items and adopted-questionnaire in lifelong healthy habits which were composed of 30 number of items were used in gathering data needed for the study. Data gathered from the investigation were subjected to computer processed statistics such as, frequency count, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson r. The alpha level of significance was set at 0.05 level of significance. The major findings of the study were: The role of physical education of senior high school students was “very good” (M=3.99, SD=0.57). The “very good” result of role of physical education implies that it can increase students’ confidence to participate and engage actively in the different physical education activities such as, festival competition and dance contest that promotes students’ development in physical aspect. Furthermore, its contribution impacts the health and physical fitness among students. Senior high students show high level of responsibility for their health this also shows how physical education emphasizes the importance of healthy living as it is the one way to live longer as well as healthier.  The lifelong healthy habits of senior high school students were “high” (M=3.69, SD=0.63). There was a significant relationship between role of physical education and lifelong healthy habits of senior high school students (r=7.17, SD=.000).
