Abstract
This true-experimental research design investigated the effect of using Roblox Math game application and conventional teaching strategy in teaching mathematics on the Numeracy Skills of Grade 9 struggling learners of Nicomedes R. Tubar Sr. National High School for school year 2025 – 2026. The participants of this study were the seventy-nine (79) struggling students of Nicomedes R. Tubar Sr. National High School, for the school year 2025-2026. The data in this study was gathered using a 53-item researcher-made Mathematics numeracy skills test to measure the numeracy skills of the Grade 9 struggling students. The descriptive statistics used in the study were the mean, standard deviation, and Cohen’s d to summarize the data. Moreover, for inferential statistical tools, the t-test for independent and dependent samples was used. The alpha level of significance was set at 0.05. Based on the results, the major findings of the study were the following: The numeracy skills of Grade 9 learners in the pretests of both the control and the experimental group were “very low”. While after the intervention, students in the experimental group had “very high” numeracy skills and the control group was “high”. There was no significant difference in the numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners in the pretests of the control and experimental groups. There was a significant difference in the problem numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners in the pretests and posttests of the control and the experimental groups. There was a significant difference in the numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners in the posttests of the control and experimental groups. There is a significant difference in the numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners in the pretests and posttests of the control and the experimental groups. There was a significant difference in the numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners in the posttests of the control and experimental groups. The effect size of Roblox Math game application in the numeracy skills of Grade 9 struggling learners was large.
