Abstract
This study determined the impact of credit lending companies on the livelihood and business opportunities of sixty small-scale business owners in Barangays Juagdan, San Vicente, and Tipolo, Ubay, Bohol, during the fiscal year 2025. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational research design, the researchers employed purposive sampling to collect data through a validated survey instrument across a systematic five-phase procedure including permission, preparation, administration, retrieval, and analysis. The findings revealed that respondents, primarily operating low-income micro-enterprises like sari-sari stores, perceive a high level of service quality regarding transparency, accessibility, security, and responsiveness. Statistical analysis indicated no significant differences in service perception or impact based on demographic profiles, yet identified an exceptionally strong positive relationship between service quality and business outcomes. These results imply that credit serves as a critical engine for economic resilience, primarily enhancing the borrowers’ capacity to expand and manage debt effectively. The study concludes that the success of small enterprises is inextricably linked to the operational fairness and transparency of lending institutions. Consequently, it is recommended that business owners improve financial literacy while credit lending companies implement “Graduation Loan Programs” to support capital scaling. Local leaders and academic institutions are also encouraged to create supportive ecosystems through workshops and mentorship programs to transition subsistence ventures into growth-oriented enterprises. Finally, the researchers propose a comprehensive action plan focused on enhancing credit literacy and service optimization to ensure long-term economic mobility.
