Abstract
This study assessed the influence of smart technology usage on the self-help skills of kindergarten learners at Natimao-an Elementary School during School Year 2025–2026. It specifically aimed to describe the learners’ profile, determine the extent of their smart technology usage at home, evaluate their level of self-help skills, and examine the significant relationship between the two variables. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, the study was conducted in a public elementary school in Carmen, Cebu, Philippines. Seventy-five (75) parents of kindergarten learners were selected through stratified random sampling as respondents. Data were gathered using an adopted survey questionnaire with Likert-scale items. Statistical tools included frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s r correlation. Results indicated that learners had proficient self-help skills with advanced performance in hygiene and toileting. Smart technology usage was moderate, primarily for educational purposes under parental supervision. Pearson’s r analysis revealed a negligible positive correlation indicating no significant relationship between smart technology usage and self-help skills. The study concluded that factors such as parental involvement and consistent routines play a more critical role in developing self-help skills than technology exposure alone. It is recommended that parents and teachers continue to reinforce hands-on daily routines while integrating technology as a supplementary, guided tool. A Home–School Reinforcement Strategy Plan was proposed to sustain and enhance learners’ independence through collaborative efforts.
