Abstract

This survey-correlational study was conducted to determine the level of importance and benefits of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) among out-of-school youth in the District of Pontevedra, Capiz, during the School Year 2024–2025. The participants of the study were a total of one hundred seventeen (117) ALS learners in the District of Pontevedra. The research instruments used were a questionnaire assessing the level of importance of ALS and a questionnaire measuring its benefits among out-of-school youth. To measure the levels of importance and benefits of ALS, the following rating scale was employed: 4.21–5.00 (Very High), 3.41–4.20 (High), 2.61–3.40 (Moderate), 1.81–2.60 (Low), and 0.01–1.80 (Very Low). The independent variable of the study was the level of importance of the Alternative Learning System, while the dependent variable was the benefits of the Alternative Learning System among out-of-school youth. All data and relevant information collected throughout the study were kept private and confidential by the researcher. The data were analyzed using computer-assisted statistical procedures. Mean and standard deviation (SD) were employed to analyze the descriptive data, while Pearson’s correlation coefficient (Pearson r) was used for inferential analysis. The level of significance was set at .05. The findings revealed that the level of importance of ALS was rated “Very High,” while its benefits among out-of-school youth were likewise rated “Very High.” Furthermore, the study established a statistically significant relationship between the level of importance and the benefits of the Alternative Learning System among out-of-school youth.
