Abstract

Workplace stress is a common concern that may affect employees’ well-being, work performance, and ability to manage job demands, particularly in organizations with varied responsibilities and deadlines. However, limited quantitative evidence has examined the sources, effects, and coping mechanisms of stress among employees of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Isabela, despite an earlier qualitative study on NIA employees. This study assessed the sources and effects of workplace stress and the coping mechanisms used by NIA employees in Isabela. A descriptive survey design was employed involving 40 employees. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire, supplemented by informal interviews and documentary analysis. Frequency, percentage, and weighted mean were used to analyze the data. Results showed that sources of stress were experienced sometimes (grand mean = 2.68), while the aftermath of stress was slightly affective (2.60). Coping mechanisms were rated very effective (4.34). The findings support the need for organizational stress-management measures alongside individual coping practices.

Keywords:  Workplace stress, NIA employees, sources of stress, coping mechanisms, employee well-being.
