Abstract
This study aimed to examine the experiences of teachers who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) with a major in Filipino, as a basis for developing a proposed LET reviewer written in the Filipino language. The researcher employed an Exploratory Sequential Mixed Methods Design, beginning with a qualitative phase through semi-structured interviews with seven LET passers to determine their experiences with the review process, examination content, the curriculum of their alma mater, and their experiences with teachers who provided LET review in Filipino at their respective universities. Based on the data gathered, a proposed LET reviewer in Filipino was developed, and in the second phase, a quantitative survey was conducted in which three experts assessed the validity and quality of the developed reviewer using a researcher-made questionnaire. The study found that most participants relied on the use of materials such as books and other reading resources as their primary review method, while some attended review centers and used YouTube videos. Most of them reported experiencing insufficient time for preparation, and the examination content centered on topics in language, literature, and research. It was also found that most participants did not receive adequate guidance or review sessions from teachers at their universities. In the experts’ evaluation, the developed reviewer obtained an overall weighted mean of 3.64 for content and 3.72 for structure, organization, and overall effectiveness, both interpreted as strongly agree. The results indicate that the use of appropriate materials, sufficient preparation time, and a well-organized reviewer written in Filipino play an important role in increasing teachers’ chances of passing the LET.
