Abstract

This study was set to ascertain the level of disaster preparedness practices and resiliency of secondary learners of the Filamer Christian University, Inc. As such, this study was only limited to the collection, tabulation, and interpretation of data by the use of two separate questionnaires: a 30-item Disaster Preparedness Practices of Secondary Learners Questionnaire based on the UNESCO Comprehensive School Safety Framework (2023) and a 30-item Resiliency of Secondary Learners Questionnaire based on the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) (2023). These questionnaires were validated by the Thesis panel committee and pilot tested on selected 30 secondary learners who were not part of the study. The study was conducted in February 2026 and 757 secondary learners from Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 were selected as participants using stratified and systematic random sampling. These participants are duly enrolled students of Filamer Christian University, Inc. for the School Year 2025-2026. The statistical tools used in the study were the frequency count, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson r. The major findings of the study showed that the level of disaster preparedness practices of secondary learners was found to be highly prepared. The level of resiliency of secondary learners was also highly resilient. There was no significant difference in resiliency among the levels of disaster preparedness practices of secondary learners and there was no significant relationship between the disaster preparedness practices and resiliency of secondary learners.
