Abstract

In the context of rapid technological advancement in education, the transition from traditional to digital teaching has become a significant concern among Generation X teachers in Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) programs. This study aimed to determine the ICT competencies, challenges encountered, and teaching performance of Generation X TLE/TVL teachers in the First District of Capiz. Specifically, it focused on ICT competencies in terms of basic computer operations, productivity tools, internet and communication tools, and ICT integration; teaching performance in terms of lesson planning and preparation, classroom management, instructional delivery, and assessment; and the challenges encountered in transitioning to digital teaching.  This study employed the descriptive–correlational research design and utilized a researcher-developed questionnaire validated and tested for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha, yielding results interpreted as good to excellent internal consistency. The weighted mean was used to determine the levels of ICT competencies, teaching performance, and challenges encountered, while Pearson r was used to test the relationships among variables. Results revealed that Generation X TLE/TVL teachers demonstrated high ICT competencies and teaching performance, while also experiencing high levels of challenges. ICT competencies showed a significant relationship with teaching performance, while challenges encountered showed no significant relationship. These findings indicated that ICT competencies played a vital role in enhancing teaching performance despite existing challenges.

Keywords: ICT competencies, teaching performance, challenges, Generation X teachers, TLE/TVL, digital teaching.
