Abstract

This study addressed the lack of structured flexibility programs for Physical Education (P.E.) teachers and aimed to determine the effectiveness of the MAKUSOG Program in improving their flexibility and overall physical health in Legazpi City. A quasi-experimental, mixed-method design using a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was employed, combining quantitative flexibility assessments and qualitative insights. Standard fitness tests, including the Sit and Reach and Zipper tests, were administered, revealing significant improvements with effect sizes ranging from -1.432 to -1.996 and statistically significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores. Guided by the Health Belief Model, the study also examined teachers’ beliefs, perceptions, attitudes, and the challenges and barriers influencing their participation. Results showed increased flexibility levels and enhanced motivation, despite constraints such as time limitations, workload, and limited facilities. The findings conclude that the MAKUSOG Program is an effective, evidence-based flexibility enhancement conditioning program. It is recommended that the MAKUSOG Program be adopted and integrated into school wellness initiatives to promote sustained teacher health and professional performance.
