Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of using educational videos on the academic performance of students in Grade 10 Social Studies. A quasi-experimental design utilizing a pre-test and post-test was employed to compare two groups: the control group, which underwent traditional instruction, and the experimental group, which used educational videos as part of their learning process. The results showed that both groups demonstrated improvement in their performance after the assessment. However, the increase in the level of knowledge was more noticeable among students who used educational videos compared to those who experienced traditional teaching. Although the use of videos had a positive effect, the findings revealed that there was no clear evidence to conclude that it was more effective than the traditional method of instruction. Based on these findings, the use of educational videos may continue to be implemented as an alternative strategy in teaching Social Studies. However, further research with a broader scope and a longer period of implementation is recommended in order to gain a deeper understanding of its impact on students’ learning. In addition, future studies may explore how traditional teaching methods and educational videos can be integrated to improve the quality of instruction.
