Abstract
This convergent mixed-methods study was conducted to examine the pedagogical leadership, professional development and teacher performance of the teachers of Basic Education of RVM Schools in Southern Mindanao, Philippines. Transformational Leadership Theory, Instructional Leadership, and Adult Learning Theory were used as theoretical underpinning. Quantitative data were gathered from the teachers’ using questionnaires, and several teacher interviews provided richer description. Findings revealed consistently high mean scores across all the indicators, and teaching and learning and classroom management were the highest areas. Qualitative findings supported these statistics, and practices of detailed teaching and learning, classroom management, extensive assessment practices, teacher-student relationships, and productive staff collaboration were documented. Blending the two quantitative and qualitative data gave a true, well-balanced report of teacher competences and practice at work. The results are a confirmation that RVM teachers possess good professional competences, supported by active pedagogical leadership and continuous professional development. In summary, it is concluded, through the research, that teacher high performance is significant in establishing good learning environments and effectiveness in school. The recommendations incorporate maintaining professional development, developing collaboration, and promoting reflective teaching practice. This research adds to the body of knowledge on religious school teacher performance and provides a beneficial template for holistic teacher evaluation.
