Abstract
This study aimed to determine the level of teachers’ technological skills and the ICT competencies of Grade 6 pupils as a basis for developing an ICT teaching enhancement plan. Specifically, it assessed teachers’ technological skills across four dimensions: technology operations and concepts, social/ethical, pedagogical, and professional. It also examined pupils’ ICT competencies in creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed involving 27 teachers and 142 Grade 6 pupils from public elementary schools in Las Nieves District I, Agusan del Norte Division. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, and correlation analysis. Findings revealed that teachers were generally competent across the four dimensions of the National ICT Competency Standards, while pupils were found to be fairly competent, indicating a need for more hands-on activities and discussions. No significant relationship was found between the teachers’ ICT competencies and the pupils’ ICT competencies. As a result, an ICT teaching enhancement plan is recommended to strengthen the technological capacities of both teachers and learners, and to support the effective use of technology in real-world teaching and learning contexts.
