Abstract
This study examines the dynamics of leadership exploring the political successions in the selected municipalities of Laguna Province. Also, it aims to evaluate the current political leadership through the perceived level of awareness on the advantages and disadvantages of political succession, and the active participation by the community in the decision-making process which includes elections and policy-making strategies. This study is quantitative research, specifically a correlational study. to determine the dynamics of leadership while exploring the political successions in the governance within the selected municipalities in the province of Laguna. The data was collected using the descriptive normative survey approach through a modified questionnaire to analyze socio-demographics of over one hundred respondents of Liliw, Nagcarlan and Rizal in Laguna, and to evaluate the significant differences in the perceived advantages and disadvantages of political successions, based on variables such as age, sex, socio-economic status, marital status, occupation, educational attainment, and municipality. Findings of this study recommend that community engagement efforts should go beyond information dissemination and include participatory activities, such as forums, workshops and participation during elections which encourage critical reflection and collective decision-making about the dynamics of local political leadership. This widespread awareness manifests the visibility and influence of family-based leadership succession in shaping the political landscape and governance.
