Abstract

In the adolescent stage, perceived parental involvement plays a vital role in shaping learners’ academic motivation, emotional well-being, and school performance. This study attempted to answer the self-construal and perceived parental school involvement of Grade 10 students in Apas National High School, Omega street, Barangay Apas, Cebu City, Cebu for the academic year 2025–2026. The researcher employed descriptive statistics to scrutinize the data meticulously using an adapted questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The study involved 192 respondents from the identified research environment. The research design involved a descriptive correlational research design. The study employed statistical tools such as the weighted mean, simple percentage, and pearson product-moment correlation r for significant relationships and data analysis. The data gathered were then analyzed statistically. Findings indicated that the grand mean of the level of self-construal of the respondents is 5.30 and a verbal description of high. Also, the grand mean of the summary on level of perceived parental school involvement of the respondents is 3.10 and a verbal description of high. Based on the findings of the study, it concluded that there is a significant relationship between the respondents’ self-construal and their perceived parental school involvement. Thus, null hypothesis is hereby rejected. Therefore, the researcher recommends the development and implementation of a Guidance and Counseling Enhancement Plan.
