Abstract

In recent years, the Philippines has experienced significant economic changes that have had profound effects on families, communities, and the education sector. However, studies focusing on the perspectives of teachers and school heads, particularly in rural areas, remain limited. This study aimed to examine the effects, challenges, and opportunities brought about by economic changes based on the experiences of 95 respondents from the 5th District of Isabela, using a descriptive-correlational design. The results revealed that participants demonstrated a high level of awareness; however, the challenges remained very severe, including insufficient funding and issues affecting students’ learning. Despite these difficulties, opportunities and effective coping strategies were also identified, which may help in adapting to these changes. Nevertheless, the findings showed that there was no significant relationship between awareness and challenges. Overall, the study suggests that although teachers and school heads possess a high level of awareness, this alone is not sufficient to mitigate the challenges brought about by economic changes.
