Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between students’ perspectives and their scores in using the Cloze Passage as a learning method for mastering nang and ng among second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Filipino students at Cebu Technological University–Consolacion Campus for the academic year 2025–2026. The research employed a quantitative design in gathering data through a Likert scale and a Cloze Test, while the Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to measure the relationship between the two variables—perspective and score. Findings revealed that most students have a positive outlook toward the use of Cloze Passage; however, it still requires more active application and teacher guidance to achieve higher levels of learning. Results also indicated that students obtained only moderate scores due to the lack of continuous application and practice. The outcomes show that the Cloze Passage can enhance students’ interest, yet its implementation needs to be strengthened to further improve their skill in the correct use of nang and ng. In light of these findings, the study recommends the development of a guide on the proper use of nang and ng utilizing the Cloze Passage as a teaching method to enhance students’ understanding and to serve as a supplementary material for Filipino language teachers.
