Abstract
Language plays a multidimensional role in education, functioning both as a medium of instruction and a vehicle for cultural transmission. This study, titled “Voices of Knowledge: Exploring the Role of Language in Education,” investigates the relationship between language proficiency, academic engagement, and cultural identity across diverse educational contexts. Utilizing data mining techniques, the research nalyzed scholarly articles, policy papers, and empirical studies published between 2015 and 2025 from sources such as Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The study examined three main areas: the function of language as a medium of instruction and cultural transmission, the impact of language proficiency on academic participation and engagement, and equitable language practices in multilingual education. Findings indicate that mastery of instructional language enhances cognitive, emotional, and behavioral engagement, while mother-tongue and bilingual education reinforce learners’ cultural identity and inclusivity. The research supports a Culturally Mediated Language Engagement framework, which emphasizes that optimal learning outcomes occur when language competency development aligns with culturally responsive pedagogy in supportive sociocultural contexts. The study recommends the implementation of multilingual, culturally grounded instructional programs, teacher training in language proficiency and culturally relevant pedagogy, and equitable access to resources for underrepresented linguistic communities. These measures collectively advance academic achievement while sustaining cultural continuity.
