Abstract
This paper attempts to evaluate the impact of the IPagtuturo: Literacy Outreach Program in Sitio Nga Bango, Saravia, Koronadal City, South Cotabato. This program was initiated by the AB Filipino Department, College of Social Sciences and Humanities in Mindanao State University-General Santos City. The program was implemented from 2015-2022 in which B’laan children were taught of basic literacy program. In the implementation of the program, their first language which is B’laan was used. Aside from the teaching-learning process, the program taught children basic dining etiquette and proper hygiene. The impact of the program was determined by utilizing a qualitative approach. The researchers conducted interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to identified participants. Using the OECD Evaluation criteria, the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of the program were examined. It was then found out that the program did not only help address the problem of low literacy among B’laan children in Sitio Nga Bango, but also helped them develop increased value towards education, and enhanced cultural identity and preservation.
