Abstract
This study determined the Practices and Challenges of the Youth Formation Program (YFP) of Elementary Schools as a basis for a proposed YFP Manual. Anchored with Alexander Astin’s Theory of Involvement, employing a descriptive-correlation research design, the study revealed that the majority of the teachers and pupils have a solid understanding of Youth Formation Program activities. Despite this, challenges are still faced especially in terms of Bible studies/sharing; sharing Bible verses every Monday during the flag ceremony; outreach programs; symposium/information drive on climate change; awareness about national and local news and events; leading the flag ceremony every Monday; and insufficient moral support in the implementation of YFP projects and activities, highlighting a gap in practical application and engagement. The study proposed a comprehensive YFD Manual to address these challenges, providing structured guidelines and best practices for enhancing program delivery and engagement. The manual emphasizes the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders, including SELG officers, pupil volunteers, teachers, and school heads, in fostering a supportive environment for holistic student development. By aligning activities with the core values, the manual aims to improve the extent of YFP implementation, ultimately contributing to the formation of well-rounded, socially responsible, and patriotic individuals. This research underscored the importance of continuous assessment and adaptive strategies in educational programs to meet evolving needs and enhance their impact on student development and community welfare.
