Abstract

This study examined the influence of non-academic problems, study habits and academic performance of Grade 6 learners of Island schools in Getafe 1 and 2 Districts of Bohol Division for school year 2024-2025. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the influence of non-academic problems among learners regarding economic and financial, health and well-being, family and home environment, emotional and psychological, and social and accommodation, learners’ level of study habits in terms of budgeting time, physical condition, reading ability, note taking, learning motivation, memory, taking examinations and health using weighted mean and standard deviation and academic performance of the learners using simple percentage, significant relationship between the learners’ level of non-academic problems and study habits, significant relationship between the academic performance of the learners’ level of non-academic problems and study habits using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC). It was found out that there is no significant relationship between non-academic problems and study habits of the learners. However, there is a significant relationship between non-academic problems and academic performance and study habits and academic performance of the learners. Therefore, since economic and financial issues were identified as the most common non-academic problems, parents must find ways to have additional sources of income. Parents may be encouraged to actively participate in their children’s academic journey. Teachers may also emphasize the importance of consistent and effective studying, not just before exams and leaners must develop good study habits.
