Abstract
This study evaluates the socioeconomic and environmental impacts of sustainable strawberry farming in Barangay Datu Ladayon, Cotabato, Philippines, with a focus on aligning local agricultural practices with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12) on responsible consumption and production. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, the research assesses economic benefits such as increased income, job creation, and improved market access alongside environmental sustainability practices including organic fertilizers, integrated pest management (IPM), and efficient irrigation. The findings reveal that sustainable strawberry farming enhances local livelihoods and promotes ecological health by reducing reliance on chemical inputs and conserving resources. The study identifies challenges faced by farmers in resource access and market integration, offering actionable recommendations for policymakers to support sustainable agricultural development. Ultimately, this research contributes to the dual goals of economic empowerment and environmental stewardship in rural Mindanao, providing a model for sustainable farming that can be replicated in similar contexts.
