Abstract
This study aimed to determine the level of problems, challenges, and learning in Filipino of Grade 4 pupils at Tamalagon Integrated School in the municipality of Tangalan, Aklan for the School Year 2024–2025. The survey-correlational research method was employed in this study. The analysis focused on the conditions and relationships of events affecting the present status of the pupils. The required data were gathered using a questionnaire on problems in Filipino, a questionnaire on challenges in Filipino, and a Filipino learning test personally developed by the researcher together with his adviser, and subjected to content face validity with the assistance of three (3) expert teachers in Filipino. The problems in Filipino and challenges in Filipino served as the independent variables, while the learning in Filipino of the Grade 4 pupils served as the dependent variable of the study. The data were analyzed using frequency count, percentage mean, standard deviation, and Pearson r for statistical treatment, with a level of significance set at .05 alpha. Overall, there were sixty-five (65) Grade 4 pupils, and the complete enumeration sampling technique was used in selecting participants due to the limited number of pupils in the study. Based on the findings, the level of problems in Filipino and challenges in Filipino of the pupils was revealed to be “high.” Despite this, the level of learning in Filipino was recorded as “moderate.” The study showed that there was a “significant relationship” between problems in Filipino and challenges in Filipino; however, it also found that there was “no significant relationship” between problems in Filipino and learning in Filipino, as well as between challenges in Filipino and learning in Filipino.
